EARTH DAY 2014
This year, on April 22nd, the Conservation and Fisheries Department will join in the worldwide initiative to celebrate Earth Day, a day intended for everyone to appreciate the earth and its environment, under the theme: Green Cities. It is evident that our environment is pivotal to our survival on the earth, and we understand that with a well managed ecosystem we can effectively suffice environmental threats and concerns.
According to the Earth Day Network, the Green Cities campaign will help cities around the world become more sustainable and reduce their carbon footprint. Focused on three key elements: buildings, energy, and transportation the campaign aims to help cities accelerate their transition to a cleaner, healthier, and more economically viable future through improvements in efficiency, investments in renewable technology, and regulation reform.
