The Ocean Safety programme has two facets, lifeguards and education. Both are going to be a big step forward for life saving in the BVI. The education programme will be starting off with a logo competition for the children in the territory to design a logo for the lifeguards to wear on their shirts. Ocean Safety education will continue as an ongoing programme directed at visitors to the islands and the local population alike. It will take place in the form of signage, safety leaflets, and safety presentations to schools and local organisations. Lifeguards will be stationed at particularly dangerous beaches to help prevent accidents and act accordingly in the event of an emergency.
